themarvelageofcomics:

A page from THOR #134 by Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta. Some of Kirby’s border notes remain legible here:
HE SUBJECTS WOLF TO MAXIMUM-MILLENNIAL-PROGRESSION—THE PROCESS OF SPEEDING UP EVOLUTION—WOLF’S BODY STRUCTURE IS NOW LOSING STATIC TORSION
WOLF’S BODY IS BEGINNING TO ACHIEVE TEMPORAL MOTION
GENES RESHIFTING

See, this is why I LOVE getting those Marvel essentials collections. Partly because you get a lot of bang for your buck, but primarily because seeing Kirby’s work in black and white is always mind blowing. Anyone who looks at a page like this can see why the guy’s a legend. It doesnt really show off his big-time amazing storytelling skills so much, but just look at the depth in those panels, and the weight and form he gives to everything. It’s all so solid. Just gorgeous work. When Im going through a bad drawing phase, it’s always good to look at the King’s back catalogue.
